NCBC Charity Golf Day 2021

We held our annual charity golf day on 24 September this year. Again the weather didn’t disappoint.

A bit of history

For those who aren’t familiar with Nottingham City Business Club golf day – a little bit of history for you.

The golf day was first introduced in 1929. The magnificent trophy, which the winners retain for 12 months, was manufactured in 1925 and first played for in 1929. The golf day ran every year through to 1982 when we have a gap and no available history until the trophy was discovered by our 2011/12 President (Deborah Labbate) and the golf day was reinstated.

Recent winners since them have been 2011 Towergate, 2012 Sherwood Place Wealth Management, 2013 CEMA, 2014 UJY Hacker Young, 2015 John Pye property, 2016 FC7 Construction (a lady led team winning for the first time), 2017 Turner & Townsend, 2018 Jamieson Christie, 2019 Smellie Savage Computers and last year Gas Container Services Ltd.

Back to 2021

This year the trophy was won by our 2013 winners, CEMA, led by a big friend of the club Frank Ciaurro who always provides us with a Spanish villa for our star raffle prize.

Our Sponsors: We would like to thank our sponsors who gave our budding golfers something to aim for on the nearest the pins. So thank you to Foremost Security, Jamieson Christie, NMCN, Turner & Townsend and the Business Club for the longest drive.

Also many thanks to those who provided raffle prizes.

Apart from a game of golf, forging links within the Nottingham community and generally having a great time we did have a purpose and that was to help raise money for our charity of the year – Harmless. The organisation provides a passionate support service to address and overcome issues related to self-harm and suicide.

The good news is that we raised £605 on the day with raffle prizes and a further £80 in online sales. So a great total of £685. On behalf of the charity and the Club, we thank you for your support.

What’s next?

Well, we will be formally handing over the trophy to our winners at our Christmas event on 10 December as well as handing over the cheque to Harmless. If you’ve not got your tickets for the best Christmas event in town then you can here.

We’ve already secured a date for next year’s golf and it is on 23 September 2022. If you are interested in securing an early bird discount then let our organisers, Mark Deakin or Bryony Withnall (from Turner & Townsend) know by emailing them on mark.deakin@turntown.co.uk or bryony.withnall@turntown.co.uk
