Former senior UK radio executive revealed as Nottingham City Business Club guest speaker

Amidst a fast-changing media-backdrop, radio remains hugely popular, with nine out of ten adults listening in each week to one of an ever-growing list of stations. West Bridgford-born David Lloyd has managed many East Midlands stations – and several national radio brands including LBC and Virgin. Most recently, he has just divested a major Midlands radio group (including Gem 106) and is now a radio consultant around the world.  He is also an author of books on radio techniques and on the history of the medium.

At the NCBC lunch, David will speak about the business of radio and about consolidation and survival, the medium’s challenges and successes, the changing competitive media backdrop and what the future may hold.

Speaking ahead of the event, David said: “Nottingham can boast much award-winning radio from the BBC and commercial sector, alongside student and hospital radio. I’m looking forward to reflecting on what makes listeners so fond, and how well the industry is poised for the future.”
