Associate Professor of the Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University

Registration from: 13:00pm

Lunch: 12:30pm

For our first online lunch of 2021 on Friday 22nd January we were delighted to welcome Dr Lynn Oxborrow, Associate Professor of the Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University as our guest speaker.

Nottingham Business school is recognised as one of the worlds leading business schools with a host of accolades, and NTU has won University of the year awards 3 years running.

Event Roundup

One area that has characterised NTU and NBS over the last few years is its focus on working with and supporting business, particularly SME’s, supporting over 400 since March 2020. They were awarded the Small Business Charter which celebrates businesses schools that have played an effective role in supporting SME’s and entrepreneurship. The university style their business support activities as the NTU SME ecosystem which brings together a range of student support, short courses, collaborations with D2N2 and the growth Hub and also national programmes such as Upscaler and Innovate.

Lynn also told us about the great success they have had with the Upscaler programme – which some club members have been part of as recipients and also deliverers. Some 217 SME's have been supported. The BIG house accelerator supports high potential digital and tech start-ups, and their Women in Leadership programmes have had over 250 participants so far.

One new programme that Lynn is keen to promote is the Small Business Leadership programme, supported by the small business charter group and hot on the heels of the Leading to Grow programme. There is a cohort starting on 1st Feb - https://www.ntu.ac.uk/about-us/events/events/2021/01/small-business-leadership-programme-information-session2

Overall a fascinating presentation from Lynn – emphasising the breadth and depth of business support available from NTU / NBS in nottingham.
