Pamela Wright, deputy agent for the East Midlands at the Bank of England, was the guest speaker at the recent Nottingham City Business Club event when she provided members and guests with an update on the UK economy.

She looked at whether, given the outlook for inflation, there will be a need to raise interest rates further. She also spoke about the prospects for growth in the UK economy amidst the continuing Brexit uncertainties.

Speaking after the event Pamela said: “As always with Nottingham City Business Club, there were representatives from a wide range of local businesses and some great questions.”

President of the club, Ian Roberts, said: “We have developed a strong relationship with the Bank of England over recent years and given the current uncertainty in our business markets it was interesting and timely to hear the Bank’s view on where interest rates may be heading and the prospects for both the national and local economy. As always there were a number of lively questions from our members.”

Nottingham City Business Club was established in 1924, with its membership comprising of senior representatives of the local business community. The club is sponsored by national law firm Buckles, who have an office in Nottingham city centre.

The club holds monthly lunch meetings for members to meet fellow senior business people in the city, with different prominent guest speakers featuring at each event.
